YOGA

Having been practiced for more than 5000 years, yoga’s overall goal is nothing short of complete inner harmony, health and balance.

Yoga classes consist of a combination of physical postures and movements, breathing exercises and meditation. Classes are held in our Studio directly behind the front lobby, to the right as you enter the building and may include up to 14 participants.

You do NOT need to be super fit or flexible to begin yoga!

First Yoga Class Tips

Here’s all you will need:

  • A yoga mat, studio mats are available but limited; so bring your own if you can!
  • Appropriate clothing that allows free and unrestricted movement.
  • A warm sweater or blanket for end of class
  • A water bottle

Show up early: Arrive to class 10 minutes early to confirm your spot and to secure any necessary equipment: block, strap or other yoga props

Ask questions: If you are unsure of a pose or movement.

Do a warm up: Cold muscles, tendons and ligaments are more vulnerable to injury.

Beginners should start slowly and learn the basics first, try concentrating more on breathing, rather than trying to stretch farther.

Know your limits: Yoga is a personal practice. Do not try positions beyond your experience or comfort level.  Just because the person next to you is trying it doesn’t mean you have to!

Choices: We offer a variety of forms; some more strenuous than others, some that focus on meditation, some that focus on strengthening…choose the class that is best suited to your goals, needs and ability!

Don’t forget to register: Yoga is included with your Evolution membership but you must reserve your spot!

SPIN

SPIN is a hugely popular group cycling class with no complicated moves to learn, encouraging instructors and music to move to!

You will be burning calories, increasing strength and improving your overall fitness… not to mention breaking a sweat! Evolution SPIN classes are held in our Group-Ex studio located directly to the right when you first enter the lobby and features:

  • 10 Star Trac NXT indoor cycling bikes
  • A non-competitive, fun environment
  • A low-impact, high-intensity workout that will have you sweating

SPIN classes are designed for all different fitness levels and goals. And while instructors push to motivate you and break your limits… classes are self-paced; you control your own level of exertion and can make each class as intense or as easy as you want!

First SPIN Class Tips

Here’s all you need:

  • Comfortable workout/cardio riding clothes (shorts recommended)
  • A water bottle
  • A personal sweat towel is provided with each SPIN bike
